Maine Coon Cat Care
Maine Coons are gentle giants of the cat world. They are friendly, intelligent, and surprisingly patient with kids.
Size: Males reach 15-18 lbs. Their long double coat needs daily brushing to prevent mats.
Temperament: Docile and patient. They chirp and trill rather than meow. Love to play but also lounge beside you.
Grooming: Wide-tooth comb and slicker brush. Focus on neck ruff, behind ears, and fluffy tail during shedding season.
Health: Prone to HCM (heart condition). Choose breeders who screen with echocardiograms. Sensitive to anesthesia.
Fun fact: Maine Coons were 19th-century barn cats, controlling rodents in New England. Today they are treasured indoor companions.
